Why is ventilation different from cooling?

Cooling (with a fan) actively removes hot air. Ventilation is the process of passive air exchange to prevent stagnant air, reduce humidity, and replenish CO₂. Good ventilation is necessary year-round, not just when it's hot.

What's the difference between inlet and outlet vents?

Outlet vents (like roof vents) allow hot, moist air to rise and escape. Inlet vents (like side vents) allow cooler, fresh air to enter. You need both for effective natural circulation.

Is more ventilation better?

To a point, yes. The calculated area is a minimum. Having larger or more vents gives you greater control over your greenhouse environment. It's better to have too much ventilation that you can close than not enough.
