What's the difference between product rate and active ingredient rate?

The product rate (e.g., quarts per acre) is the amount of the commercial product to use. The active ingredient (a.i.) rate is the amount of the actual chemical that is being applied. This calculator uses the product rate, which is most common for mixing.
